The Next Level Requires This One Thing

The Next Level Requires This One Thing

I love dreaming, planning, and putting my futuristic Strengths Finder gift to work during this season. I can anticipate and articulate organizational and personal goals well. I can see beyond the short-term anxiety and dream about what could be during the next season. At the same time, I easily get ahead in evaluating past and current circumstances that may inhibit future growth.

Do you know what the one thing is that may prohibit your future growth and mine as well?

It is the ability to clearly say no. And saying no often means saying no to good things to pursue greater things. I consider the words of Jesus and what he said in John 15:1,2, that he prunes any branch that does not bear fruit so the fruit-bearing branch can produce even more fruit.

Wouldn’t you like to prosper in 2023?

Going to the next level will require doing less for more.

The next level in your marriage, health, faith, finances, and leadership will require an honest assessment of what needs to be trimmed.

In a coaching call this week Dr. Henry Cloud’s book about Necessary Endings came up and I was reminded of the wisdom and principles in this book about how to grow in all domains of your life.

“Getting to the next level always requires ending something, leaving it behind, and moving on. Growth itself demands that we move on. Without the ability to end things, people stay stuck, never becoming who they are meant to be, never accomplishing all that their talents and abilities should afford them.”

Henry Cloud

What do you need to let go of to be fruitful in 2023? Saying no almost always means letting go of something you enjoy, love, and once had a passion for in your life and business. Life has a way of accumulating.

Currently, I am scaling back on coaching opportunities and options that I offer clients in order to get clear on what I do best. This has not been an easy task in the last few weeks. Getting clear on saying no, also means you begin to get clear on a solid yes. For example, a solid yes in our family will be getting more strategic in our summers since our oldest will only have six more summers at home. (I’m not crying, you are.)

What does this bring up for you?

What do you need to let go of right now to prepare for growth and the next level in 2023?

It is powerful what could happen by simply sharing with one person what you need to say no to right now.

If you are ready to steward your 2023 well and live with a clear mission I have a special invitation for you to join The Stewardship Mastery
